About Us
History
Tennessee Apparel was founded in 1901 as a Tennessee Corporation and manufactured work clothing for a number of years before converting practically its entire production capability to the manufacturing of military clothing. The company has been manufacturing predominantly for the military since 1957 and has produced in excess of fifty (50) million items of clothing for the military.
What We Do
- We have produced over 2 million protective environmental garments for the US Army, US Navy, US Air Force and US Marine Corps using GORE-TEX® fabrics and GORESEAM® tape. Tennessee Apparel is also a certified manufacturer of products made with GORE® CHEMPAK® Selectively Permeable Fabrics.
- We have completed production of the Integrated Footwear System (IFS) CB protective boot liner contract (M67004-05-D-0029), and were the principal manufacturer of all the DT/OT test items for the JSLIST Chemical/Biological Protective Coverall for Combat Vehicle Crewman (JC3). Both of these items are made from a non-stretch GORE® CHEMPAK® Selectively Permeable Fabric.
Experience
- The UIPE I1 Protective Clothing System utilizes a stretch GORE® CHEMPAK® Selectively Permeable Fabric to create a close-fitting undergarment. The one-directional stretch fabric has been incorporated into a unique unisex undergarment design. This unisex design maximizes range of motion, durability in use, fit across a broad range of body sizes, and integration with other CB protective equipment.
- TAC participated in the design and development (EMD phase) and the production and deployment (LRIP and FRP phase) of the UIPE I1. During this process, TAC went from an MRL 6 to an MRL 10.
- To date we have manufactured and shipped over 125,000 units of the protective undergarment consisting of a top and bottom.
